Description

The American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification, Inc. (ABPANC) is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Education and Professional Development to join our team. The Director of Education and Professional Development will be responsible for oversight and implementation for all aspects of ABPANC professional development and continuing education programs; as well as, developing study materials such as practice exams, flashcards, and study programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in professional development and healthcare education, with a commitment to lifelong learning.

This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage professional development and continuing education programs for perianesthesia nurses. This includes conducting needs assessments, determining curriculum/course design, coordinating program logistics and delivery methods (including in person, webinar, podcast, white paper, etc.), virtual and on-site administration, developing marketing plans, and ensuring adherence to clinical practice standards.
  • Create and oversee the development of CPAN and CAPA study materials, including practice exams, flashcards, and study programs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs, program strengths and weaknesses, and make improvements as needed.
  • Ensure ongoing quality assurance by collecting and auditing learner feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards for providing continuing education for healthcare professionals.
  • Stay current with industry trends related to education and professional development.
  • Prepare and manage the budget, develop enrollment projections, and drive revenue for programs, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Collaborate with education division volunteers and volunteer committees to develop and provide education programs.
  • Serve as staff liaison for education committees, subcommittees, and panels. Committees include, but are not limited to the Exam Preparedness Committee, Professional Development Committee, and Practice Exam Task Force.
  • In collaboration with ABPANCs Senior Program Assistant, develop Certification Coach program.
  • Review current education division policies and procedures, identify needs for change, develop recommended modifications, and implement approved changes.
  • Ensure documentation and retention of all education-related activities.
  • Execute long-term strategic plans for ABPANC’s education programs, including collecting data and evidence to support certification and working to publish and share evidence and research.
  • Ensure the future integrity of education programs by developing and initiating solutions that meet stakeholders' needs and align with ABPANC’s strategic direction.
  • Represent ABPANC at industry conferences and meetings, as permitted.
  • Other duties as assigned or needed.


Requirements

  • 8+ years professional experience, with 5+ years in continuing education or professional development.
  • Experience obtaining continuing education credits for healthcare professionals, including knowledge of industry requirements (CNE, CME, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of certification processes under ABSNC or similar standards.
  • Leadership, project management, presentation, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects, and make sound decisions.
  • Experience managing remote and diverse teams.
  • Technical and business writing skills, with strong verbal communication.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with various stakeholders.
  • Financial acumen to develop and analyze budgets.
  • Willingness to travel domestically 3-4 times annually for industry conferences, board of directors’ meetings and professional development opportunities.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; master’s preferred.
  • Relevant industry certification strongly preferred.

 

Recommended/Preferred:

  • Knowledge of not-for-profits in healthcare.
  • Experience working with volunteers and committees.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience.
