Description
The RN Supervisor, Lead administers and directs the shift related activities of the hospital. Ensures that the standards of Silver Hill Hospital and the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Nursing are adhered to. Interprets, implements and evaluates Hospital and Department of Nursing policies and procedures. Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates all aspects of the delivery of nursing care for a specific shift or designated group of nursing units. Manages communication with all Nursing Supervisors/Relief Supervisors and monitors their practice and performance.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 11:45pm to 7:45am
Salary:
Full time, Exempt
$120,000 - $125,000
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identifies unsafe situations and responds appropriately.
- Evaluates patient outcomes with staff and institutes corrective action and follow-up, as needed.
- Participates in work groups and Ad Hoc Committees as necessary to evaluate unit manuals, policies/procedures, standard development and other areas that impact quality of care.
- Participates in staff meetings and is responsible for being aware of administrative and clinical issues.
- Responsible for assuming Charge Nurse functions on the clinical unit, as needed and available.
- Understand emergency procedures, fire drills and evacuation procedures.
- Provides mentorships for all new orientees and staff, as needed and required.
- Assists, as requested, with Nursing new hires and orientation.
- Actively Participates in tracers on units.
- Contributes to department newsletters and other communications, as appropriate.
- Assists in providing quality improvement initiatives that focuses on the effectiveness of patient care and the performance of staff.

Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have the ability to function optimally in a stressful environment, and the ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree required, Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
- Licensed in the state of Connecticut as a Registered Nurse (Licensure will be evidence of completion of educational requirement).
- CPR BLS certification, after hire and before assignment to direct patient care.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move light objects weighing less than 20 pounds for short distances.
- Ability to sit at a desk and walk around for different periods of time.
