Funding Support for Myasthenia Gravis Research and Career Development

The Myasthenia Gravis Rare Disease Network (MGNet) is a consortium of academic medical centers partnering with the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America and Conquer MG as well as collaborators in other research groups and industry. We are working together to enhance therapeutic development for this rare disease. MGNet is part of the National Institutes of Health’s Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network (RDCRN) and is funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS).

The Myasthenia Gravis Rare Disease Network (MGNet) is offering funding opportunities to advance Myasthenia Gravis (MG) research and support emerging investigators. These programs aim to foster early-stage researchers and promote innovation in clinical research and biomarker development.

The MGNet Scholar Program provides one year of individualized training and mentorship in either Clinical Research or Biomarker Development. 

• Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must have a MD (or equivalent) or PhD. Clinical fellows, post-doctoral fellows, or junior faculty are eligible. Mid career faculty wanting to pursue more dedicated MG research or to transition into MG research are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must identify a primary mentor with appropriate content expertise and experience mentoring young investigators. Candidates should be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or non U.S. citizens with a valid visa to work in the U.S. Applicants with training outside the field of neurology are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Pilot Grant Program for Myasthenia Gravis offers one-year pilot grants focused on identifying clinically useful biomarkers, improving clinical trial readiness, and evaluating therapeutic interventions across MG subtypes. 

• Eligibility Criteria: The PI must hold a MD, PhD, MD/PhD, RN or more advanced, PharmD, DDS, DVM, or equivalent and be a faculty member at a US-based academic institution.

Deadline: Both programs have an application deadline of July 15, 2026, at 5 PM EST with funding to start September 2026
