Northwell Health – Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT
Northwell Health’s Department of Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced Board-Certified / Board Eligible Inpatient Psychiatrist to join our dynamic Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Danbury Hospital.
In this impactful role, you will be a vital member of a 2-physician-run Adult Psychiatry Unit as part of a hospital based, 4 physician team, leading a dedicated sub-team that includes psychiatry residents, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, and nursing staff. This position offers significant opportunities for academic engagement, allowing you to supervise and teach diverse behavioral health trainees, such as residents, and medical students from a variety of American and offshore medical schools.
Danbury Hospital
Danbury Hospital is a 456-bed Hospital with a Level II trauma center. It has many outstanding health professions training programs and an affiliation with both Northwell, Zucker School of Medicine, Putnam Hospital and Connecticut Institute for Community’s psychiatry residency programs in general adult psychiatry for a total complement of 48 residents. It is also affiliated with Larner College of Medicine, University of Vermont, University of Medicine and Health Sciences, The American University of the Caribbean, Ross University School of Medicine, and the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Danbury Hospital is a member of the Council of Teaching Hospital and Health Systems (COTH) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Of the 1,100 hospitals involved in graduate medical education in this country, the 400 COTH member institutions train about three-quarters of the residents in the United States.
Inpatient services include a dedicated 22 bed adult inpatient unit, a dedicated 7 bed ED crisis unit and an active consultation service with inpatient and outpatient ECT. Treatment specialties include depression, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, peripartum mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar, personality disorders, dual diagnosis conditions, and medical/neurological illnesses with psychiatric symptoms.
Outpatient services include all ages and encompass the full continuum of care. These services include general child and adult outpatient clinics and specialized intensive outpatient services. Danbury’s outpatient department additionally offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
